John 14:12-14:21

Help for the Impossible

In these verses of John 14, we find several promises from Jesus for help to do the impossible. One of Jesus? promises was for greater works through the Son. Pastor Lloyd expounds on these and the promises pertaining to prayer and the role of love and obedience. Jesus speaks of the advocate that is soon to come to the disciples to help them and to be with them forever. This is empowerment that comes to each one of us only because of Jesus.

  1. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
  2. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
  3. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
  4. If ye love me, keep my commandments.
  5. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
  6. Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
  7. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
  8. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
  9. At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
  10. He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
