Colossians 4:2-4:6

Keeping the Connection

As we continue in chapter four of Colossians, we begin with the need for prayer and outreach. Diligence and devotion to prayer is key to this new nature we have been studying. Thankfulness is a big part of this practice of prayer, even before we see the results. This short epistle continues with guidance about how to treat outsiders. It begins with wisdom with our words, and an added sprinkling of grace, making the most of every opportunity.

  1. Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
  2. Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:
  3. That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
  4. Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
  5. Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
