Romans 7:9-7:13

Revelation Into the Soul

We've been traveling verse by verse through Romans chapter seven here lately and today we take a closer look at verses nine through thirteen. The apostle Paul had much to say to the Christians in Rome about the Commandments of God. He didn't want them to miss what the law was intended to do. Now, centuries later, so many people have missed the point. For instance, are we saved by obeying the law as so many think?

  1. For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
  2. And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
  3. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
  4. Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
  5. Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
